Installing Google Chrome using the Terminal

To download the latest 64 bit version of Google Chrome for Ubuntu, use the following command in the terminal:
wget https://dl.google.com/linux/direct/google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb
To install the downloaded debian package run the following command:
sudo dpkg -i google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb
There are a few unmet dependencies with the debian package. To finish installing Google Chrome and installing the dependency packages run the following command:
sudo apt-get -f install

Installing Google Chrome using the Software Center

Open Firefox and navigate to the https://google.com/chrome

Click the download button and choose the .deb package for Ubuntu and appropriate bit version (64bit being the most common today).

Choose to open the file with the Software Center.

Click Install when the Software Center loads the Google Chrome package.
